So many scholars try to put the god of islam and god of christianity in the same category which is far from the truth.Taking a look at the Bible and comparing it with Quran of Mohammad one can immediately see the difference between the god of islam and our
Father.
To begin with, Yes we call our god "father". Because our relationship to our god is way closer than the relationship muslims have and will ever have with their god. He is our father not only because he created us but also because god of christianity want to have a relationship with us. Christianity is not only a religion, but also a relationship. And If you have read my previous post on the philosophy of why are we here you realize that the ultimate goal of our existence was to have a relationship with our god.
Our relationship to our god is a not unidirectional relation like in islam but a bidirectional relation.
Many times you hear the christian preachers screaming "god loves you" And they are saying the truth. God does love you! Let bring in some questions on Love of our father in christianity to set the matter straight:
Does God love everyone? Yes, He shows mercy and kindness to all.
Does God love Christians more than He loves non-Christians? No, not in regards to His merciful love.
Does God love Christians in a different way than He loves non-Christians? Yes; because believers have exercised faith in God’s Son, they are saved. God has a unique relationship with Christians in that only Christians have forgiveness based on God’s eternal grace
So god of christianity in the other words Love everybody equally but love christians only in a different way.
Can one say the same thing about Allah?
No! Surely not!
Qur’an 30:43-45—Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated. Whoever disbelieves, he shall be responsible for his disbelief, and whoever does good, they prepare (good) for their own souls, that He may reward those who believe and do good out of His grace; surely He does not love the unbelievers.
Hence, although Allah is called “the Loving,” the Qur’an only means by this that Allah will love people once they believe in him and obey his prophet. The god of Islam has no love for sinners and unbelievers.
Compare it with this passage of bible:
"so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust."(Matthew 5:45)
Lets take a look at another passage of Quran and try to figure out the dynamic of relationship between Allah and human beings:
Qur’an 3:31-32—Say [O Muhammad]: If you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surelyAllah does not love the unbelievers.
You see that, This is not an unconditional type of love. This is not a divine love!
What Allah says is the following:
LOVE ME FIRST AND I LOVE YOU BACK, HATE ME AND I HATE YOU BACK.
Interestingly, the “Love me first and I’ll love you back” kind of love exhibited by Allah in the Qur’an is condemned by Jesus in Matthew 5:43-48:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
I hope that this post will make you think of how much our Loveling father loves you, regardless of who you are! Once you notice the love and longing you will be in right tract that god has designed for us.
AMen
Love to you all!
