Was Mohammad really a prophet chosen by god? Does his life style indicate a holy life of a chosen saint who was sent to make people lives better?

To start this post, I have to once again say, This post is surely nothing personal to any muslim. I have respects for muslims all around the world and I defend your rights. My criticism is towards islam as a religion and not towards muslims personally. As my lord command me, I love everyone regardless of their faith and what they do. I am not allowed to judge anyone based on anything.

However my purpose with this sorts of posts is to enlighten people, to give them a chance to question their faith and to give them a glimpse of why did I become christian.

So lets take a look at Mohammad life style:

Marriage to Aisha

In the traditional islamic sources, It is stated that Aisha has been betrothed to Mohammad at the age of 6, and she started her life with him at age of 9 years old. It is at this age that their marriage is consummated. So Mohammad a 50 years old man has been basically having sex with a 9 years old girl who could be his granddaughter.

In Bukhari which is a book on Hadith and life of Mohammad, It is stated ( rather proudly) that Aisha, used to play with dolls along with her girlfriends while living with Mohammad.

Is this not upsetting? Does is it not uppset you that a "prophet" who was send from god to people would be having sex with a little girl who was playing with her dolls while being married to a man in his fifties?

You have to consider the fact that Mohammads life as an islamic prophet is exemplary for other muslims men. Do you know what will this act of Mohammad cost in islamic countries?

Can one grasp that putting such an example for other men would affect the life of the kids in islamic regions?

Lets look at some statistic from Iran. I urge you to take a look at the following link and morally judge it by your self:

As Jeremy Stangroom and ophelia benson has once mentioned:

"accepting the rightness of his(Mohammad) act raises the question: on what basis can one reject the marriage of young girls today"

So many muslims argue that marriages between an older man and young girl were customary and one should judge his life style by the moral relativism of his own time and region.NOT CORRECT. If he was considered an ordinary man with an ordinary life with no intention of impacting peoples life, that statement would be correct. However Mohammad was not an ordinary man living an ordinary life, He claimed himself to be a prophet chosen by god to enlighten people of not only his time but also the future. What type of god will let his chosen prophet to live such a life that can cause so much damage to little children later on?

Lets compare it to Jesus Christ life style. Well you can't because Jesus is god and he never married. But I can get this historical facts straight in future posts.

"He is deceiving. For do prophets come with sword and chariot?, …[Y]ou will discover nothing true from the said prophet except human bloodshed"

The mentioned passage comes from the Doctrina Jacobi nuper baptizati/ the teaching of Jacob which are some old historical documentations of christian/jewish conversations (letters), written at the time of death of Mohammad. The letters obviously shows the concerns of the ongoing wars in the islamic regions caused by Mohammad.

Lets take a look at islamic wars that were lead or influenced by Mohammad.

  • he battle of Waddan (1 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bawat (2 Hijri).

  • The battle of Al-Asherah (2 Hijri).

  • The battle of Badr (2 Hijri).

  • The battle of Badr Al-Kubrah (2 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bani Saleem (2 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bani Qaenaqaa' (2 Hijri).

  • The battle of Al-Saweeq (2 Hijri).

  • The battle of the Amr (3 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bahran (3 Hijri).

  • The battle of Uhud (3 Hijri).

  • The battle of Hamraa' Al-Asad (3 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bani Al-Nazeer (4 Hijri).

  • The battle of That Al-Reqaa' (4 Hijri).

  • The battle of Badr Al-Akherah (4 Hijri).

  • The battle of Domat-Ul-Gandal (5 Hijri).

  • The battle of Al-Khandaq (5 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bani Al-Mustalaq (5 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bani Qurayzah (5 Hijri).

  • The battle of Bani Lehyan (6 Hijri).

  • The battle of The Qird (6 Hijri).

  • The battle of Al-Hudaybeyah (6 Hijri).

  • The battle of Khaibar (7 Hijri).

  • The battle of Umrat Al-Qadaa' (7 Hijri).

  • Fath Mekkah (8 Hijri).

  • The battle of Haneen (8 Hijri).

  • The battle of Al-Taa'ef (8 Hijri).

  • The battle of Tabuk (9 Hijri).

29 battles!! Thats right 29 battles.

Based on islamic resources Mohammad part-take in the mentioned wars were due to the following reasons:

1. In order to make the enemy feel that they have enough power to fight.

2. Preventing the financial sources of attacks.

3. Defending against attacks. (very few of them, check it out)

4. Gathering information about the enemy.

5. The breach of treaties and punishing betrayal

6. Punishing the Raid and Plunder

7. Preventing the enemy to gain supporters

8. The Military Interventions performed upon receiving the news of Attack.

9. Helping Muslims that are persecuted.

10. Eliminating the barriers that prevent tabligh (conveying the message of Islam)

11. Punishing those who mistreated and killed the envoys

12. Answering the declaration of war by the enemy

The muslims resources also claims that all the mentioned reason justifies the act of war on Mohammad behalf.

But!!

Does any of the mentioned reason legitimate the reason of staring a war by a prophet? By a PROPHET?

how can one convey a faith, a thought, a notion and a life style by war?

how can a prophet force people into a religion by death threat?

Is that why a prophet is sent for? to make people believe in a religion by force? to take revenge from some tribes? To show off the military power? to show off "we can fight you if we want"?

Now, what does christianity says on war?

Looking at bible, the following passage gives the most clear answer to the question:

"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.(NIV, Matthew 5:38-45)

The apostle Paul and other New testament writers echoed Jesus' sentiment and expanded on it.

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. "But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (NAS, Romans 12:17-21)

Based on christianity the revenge, revolt, a desire to harm, dominate, or exploit and similar things are not justification for war. Which one sounds more godly to you? The approach of islam or christianity?

Our lord, never once resisted the is persecutors. When the mob came to arrest Jesus, one of His followers tried to defend Him with a sword. But Jesus said,

"Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword." (NAS, Matthew 26:52-53)

Many of Jesus' apostles and other followers were also martyred for their faith, but never used violence to resist their fate.

While Jesus neither used nor owned a sword and warned those who did to put down their swords, Muhammad gave names to his swords. For example, after expelling the Jewish tribe of Qaynuqafrom Medina (An example is the mass killing of the men of the Banu Qurayza, a Jewish tribe of Medina. The tribe was accused of having engaged in treasonous agreements with the enemies besieging Medina in the Battle of the Trench in 627.

Ibn Ishaq writes that Muhammad approved the beheading of some 600–700 in all, with some saying as high as 800–900, who surrendered after a siege that lasted several weeks. They were buried in a mass grave in the Medina market place, and the women and children were sold into slavery. in 624 AD),he gave the names,"Very Sharp,""Pluck Out,"and"Death"to the three fine swords he took from them.

Does this mean christians has never engaged in act of war and killing each other? NO ABSOLUTALY NOT!

But there is a difference, when self-declared Christians kill and plunder, they are following neither the words nor the example set by Christ and therefore are not true Christians. But when Muslims kill and plunder, they are following the example and the words of Muhammad to "kill the infidels wherever you find them"

Christianity started and grew by the power of Christ's truth and love. Islam started and grew by the fear of Muhammad’s sword. Christian martyrs give their lives to save others. Islamic martyrs die while killing others, including for not being a Muslim!!

Mohammad, a prophet with no miracle

Did Mohammad performed any miracle to convince his followers? No, despite the honest attempt of muslims for ascribing and inventing miracle in his name 100 years after his death, there are no historical records on him performing any sort of miracle.

Biblical prophets performed miracles to establish their credentials. For example, Moses said to God in Exodus 4:1, “What if [the Israelites] do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you’?” How did God respond? He told Moses to throw his staff to the ground; instantly, it turned into a snake. He told Moses to pick it up by its tail; it turned back into a staff. Then God said in Exodus 4:5, “This . . . is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”

A similar thing happened to Elijah on Mount Carmel: He was challenged, and God sent down fire from heaven to confirm he was a true prophet (see 1 Kings 18:16–39). As for Jesus, he actually came out and said, “Do not believe me unless I do [miracles] of my Father” (John 10:37). And then he did them. Even Nicodemus conceded this when he said to Jesus, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him” (John 3:2).

This kind of confirmation never happened on Muhammad’s behalf. In fact, Muhammad, the founder of Islam, actually believed Jesus was a prophet who performed miracles, including raising the dead. Muslims also believe Moses and Elijah performed miracles. However, in the Koran when unbelievers challenged Muhammad to perform a miracle, he refused. He merely said they should read a chapter in the Koran. (See Sura 2:118; 3:181–84; 4:153; 6:8,9,37 in the Koran.) And yet Muhammad himself said, “God hath certainly power to send down a sign” (Sura 6:37). He even said, “They [will] say: ‘Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?’” (Sura 6:37).

The only "miracle" of Mohammad was one thing!Quran it self! Which in essence it is not a very convincing miracle.

I want to end my blog with the following piece of bible:

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit."(Matthew 7:15-17)

This is truly the case in islam as our Messiah predicted. Remember the gap between the islam and christianity. Remember that christianity came first and then islam. Remember how islam gained popularity and with what cost?

Before saying goodbye, I have to say that I urge people not to go around and judge all muslims after reading this. I was raised in a muslim country and believe me when I say, your faith won't make you a worse or a better person. There are all kind of people in every religion and some of the loveliest people I know are muslims! Do not feed the hatred in your heart against any group of people. I do criticize islam but no one should criticize muslim for their beliefs. Remember that people are vulnerable and they are going through different journeys. Their beliefs is formed with their environment and their own personal experiences.

We christians are not here to Judge. We are here to serve, and only to serve.

love/peace

AMEN
